 Firehouse Cultural Center, 101 1st Ave NE, Ruskin FL Learn about sustainability and conservation; try new, fresh foods and recipes. We will also grow plants for eating, cooking, creating, and sharing in the new FCC garden. We’ll experiment with a wide variety of veggies, herbs and flowers growing in everything from straw bales to tires to homemade garden beds. Digging in the dirt and caring for plants is a wonderful way to have fun, learn and connect to each other and our shared natural world. |

Love graphic novels? Have something to say? Why not make your own comic book? This intro to comic making will focus on character building and design. Develop the heroes, villains, and everyday people that will become the central figures of the comic worlds you will create. Wed. 9/28. In partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art. Ages 12 and up.
Storytelling and World-building Workshop: Successful imaginative worlds draw readers in. Learn how to create a rich fictional universe for your characters to exist in. Hone your visual storytelling skills, and put them to use in your own comic or graphic novel. Wed. 10/5. In partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art.
BOOK FOR THE MONTH! Learn the basics of how to form clay through pinching, coil building, and working with slabs. Combine these forming methods together to make some fun shapes! Students should expect to make several pieces using these techniques. With introduction of wheel throwing. Clay, tools, glazing and firing included. Thursdays: 9:30am – 11:30am Adults. Knock ’em dead with a “tight five”! Create material you can be proud of, and be ready for the stage. This class focuses on the generation, development, and performance of the material you create. No experience needed. These remote classes will meet 2 hours a week for 6 weeks, followed by a final in-person class and showcase outside of class where you can invite others to see you shine. Painting BIG (Pattern). Your BIG chance to paint on a large piece of heavy paper (approx. 3’X 4’). You’ll be looking at patterns in art and then create your own BIG designs.
