Firehouse Cultural Center in partnership with Patel Conservatory @Straz Center presents: Drama/Comedy Theater for Kids.
Free Event: Wednesdays, Sept. 13 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Schedule follows Hillsborough School Calendar. This program will conclude with “Show Off Production” for all to see. Limited Space for ages 7 – 16. Free Programming provided by Patel Conservatory. Underwritten by The Straz.

Studio 55 is for adults 55 and older to connect over art and artmaking. This is TMA’s participation in the Vitality Arts Project for Art Museums funded by EA Michelson Philanthropy to promote the work of anti-ageism in our community and industry. While building a community of artists, students will learn new techniques, develop artistic skills, and create their own impressionist-inspired masterpieces. Free 8-week class, Wednesdays 10:00 am – 1:00 pm to October 18th – December 13th. No class Nov. 22.

BOOK FOR THE MONTH! Learn the basics of how to form clay through pinching, coil building, and working with slabs. Combine these forming methods together to make some fun shapes! Students should expect to make several pieces using these techniques. With introduction of wheel throwing. Clay, tools, glazing and firing included. Thursdays: 9:30am – 11:30am Adults. Book Monthly, January 2024 – December 2024.

James Yon is the host of “Real Laughs” on Real Radio 104.1, “The Lowdown”, and “Funny Not Famous” on Afro TV featured Xfinity Comcast. Now James spends his time touring clubs and casinos all over the country from Orlando to Las Vegas bringing the funny. This a Friday Night Center Stage: Comedy Event on December 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Robin Savage has performed in comedy clubs, casinos and seedy bars across the United States. Comedy club credits include McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre, Tampa Improv, and Side Splitters to name a few. Catherine Maloney has worked with popular Comedy Stars like Tom Cotter, Colin Quinn, Kevin Nealon, Gary Owen, and Tom Green. Trish Keating was a divisional semi-finalist for the Boston Comedy Festival, featured in the Tampa Bay Comedy Festival and in “The Teacher’s Lounge Comedy Show” series at The Tampa Improv.

Ken Loomer was the house drummer at the Jazz Cellar in Ybor City for 8 years. John Lamb, a virtuoso performer bassist; former bass player with Duke Ellington. Tony Castellano, Jr. started playing piano at age 7; his father was a pianist who had a trio in the Miami area. Franco Marino used to play tenor sax with Tony Castellano’s father!
