Printmaking includes a variety of methods of creating multiple works of art from a single image. In this one day workshop, you’ll learn about the linocut technique and creating stamped works of art. 1 Session, Wed. 8/31. In partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art.

BOOK FOR THE MONTH! Learn the basics of how to form clay through pinching, coil building, and working with slabs. Combine these forming methods together to make some fun shapes! Students should expect to make several pieces using these techniques. With introduction of wheel throwing. Clay, tools, glazing and firing included. Thursdays: 9:30am – 11:30am Adults. All TMA@Firehouse events take place at the Firehouse Cultural Center located at 101 1st Ave NE in Ruskin.

9/9/22 at 7:30 p.m. This will be a Friday Night Event. Comedy Center Stage at the Firehouse brings a night of laughs with Jeff Gerbino. Jeff has been named by The Hollywood Reporter as one of America’s Top Ten new comics in their annual Comedy Issue. Variety magazine described Jeff’s act as a high energy high wire act that takes the audience right along with him. Jeff has performed at Comedy Center Stage at the Firehouse several times in the past, we are happy to welcome him back!

TBone Hamilton and the Blues All Stars returns to the Firehouse Cultural Center! The band is led by Bassist/Vocalist Tom “TBone” Hamilton. With John Puhl (Guitar & Vocals), Eric Mullins (Sax) and Eric Elsner (Drums) this is an event not to miss! Saturday, Sept. 10, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.

Painting with Watercolors. For students at all levels. Explore: color; brush strokes from flat washes to dancing with your brushes; techniques from wet to scrubbing; and more. Includes Materials. Sept. 12 – Oct. 17, 2022.

Explore acrylic media and techniques more in-depth study of acrylics, aesthetics, and medium. Students will talk about their work and the work of others in the classroom critiques at the start each class. This class is for all levels, heighten your skills or find your hidden talent. Come explore the art of metalsmithing. You will saw, file, texture and rivet on silver, copper, and brass. Emphasis will be texturing & riveting metals together, creating your unique jewelry. Various techniques will be demonstrated. You will make a finished piece of jewelry of either a pendant or earrings. All materials supplied. Fri. Sept. 16, 10:00 am – noon.

Pottery for Kids: Grades 4 – 8. Fire up your creativity and learn the basics of how to form clay through pinching, coil building, and working with slabs. Projects include: Pinch pot pumpkins and a slab Halloween mobile. Bisque after the first two classes, glaze the third, and assembly for the mobile on the fourth. You will create art with various types of stained glass and ceramic tiles, substrates such as wood or cement steppingstones. Individual projects with individualized instruction allow for all levels of experience to grow. Basic supplies are provided for this course, participants may bring small base projects. Or pay per class if you just need help finishing a project. Thursdays, Sept. 22 – Oct. 13, 2022.

Artist Susan Fredricks will be showcasing her series, Fading Florida, with a demonstration of the print techniques used to produce her work. This event is made possible by a Microgrant from the Gobioff Foundation. Saturday, Sept. 24 at 10 am.

Gypsy Star uplift and enchant listeners with their multi-genre brilliance. Gypsy Star’s musical compositions are uniquely represented by world music. Their sound is dominated by Spanish, Celtic and Latin flavors together with sounds of the Caribbean and the Middle East underscored by Pop, Rock, Classical and Jazz influences. Saturday, Sept. 24, 7:30 – 9:30 pm.

Kids can get dirty and not be in trouble! Make several projects that will be fired and be introduced to the wheel. All materials included. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

Love graphic novels? Have something to say? Why not make your own comic book? This intro to comic making will focus on character building and design. Develop the heroes, villains, and everyday people that will become the central figures of the comic worlds you will create. Wed. 9/28. In partnership with the Tampa Museum of Art. Ages 12 and up.
